- Discontinue topical creams 2–3 days before treatment
- Avoid acne creams on the area for four weeks before treatment
- Avoid unprotected sun exposure for two weeks before treatment
- Avoid exfoliating the area for five days before treatment
- Avoid artificial tanning and spray tans for two weeks before treatment
- Avoid other laser or IPL treatments on the area for two weeks before treatment
- Allow two weeks after cosmetic injectable treatments before IPL
After your treatment
- Avoid heat — hot showers, saunas and exercise — for 24 hours
- Avoid acne creams on the area for one week
- Avoid unprotected sun exposure for two weeks; use SPF daily
- Avoid artificial tanning and spray tans for two weeks
- Avoid other laser or IPL treatments on the area for two weeks
